Nathan and Jenny | Proposal

The day before Valentines Day, my good friend Nathan tells me he’s going to be asking his beautiful girlfriend Jenny, to marry him. He asked If I would be willing to hide out on Navy Pier, the location where it’s all happening the next day. Of course, I’m totally into it.

Nathan had a limo pick them up at her house, and take them to The Signature Room, which is probably the most stylish restaurant in Chicago as it’s on the 95th floor of the John Hancock Center. Gorgeous. After a great dinner and dessert the limo takes them to Navy Pier where I’ve been staked out arranging chocolate kisses in pretty shapes and trying desperately to light dozens of candles on the windy pier. I hid behind a giant flowerpot and filmed the action as it unrolled…

Anna and Jason | Engagement

Meet Anna and Jason. I’ve known both of them for a very long time. One year in elementary school, Jason & I were on the same basketball team. And Anna was literally the girl next door. I spent half of my childhood at her house eating Kraft macaroni & cheese, and playing with Legos alongside her brother. It’s a lot of fun to see how much everyone’s changed, and grown up.

Even though we pick a frigid, windy day, we had great time, and got lucky with a wonderful sunset.

What is more perfect than jumping on a trampoline with the one you love, at sunset?

Kenny and Shannon | Engagement

A couple weeks ago I took a little trip over to Des Moines, Iowa and photographed Shannon & her fiancée Kenny. They were so much fun to hang out with for the evening, and I can’t wait to photograph their wedding next summer!

Jon and Cyndi | Engagement | Part Two

Alright! If you missed the first part of Jon and Cyndi’s engagement photos, check those out now HERE, and let this blog post load. This post has some giant image files so just sit back and wait for them to load, because I promise it’ll be worth it (unless you’re on a smart phone). Anyway I decided to animate some of their engagement photos. I didn’t shoot them to do this kind of thing, so maybe next time I’ll shoot some in order to animate them, and they’ll be much better. But I think these turned out pretty well for a first attempt. Let me know if you like them and if I should continue experimenting doing this kind of thing, or if you just think it’s dumb. Feedback is always appreciated.

Kort and Chengcheng | Wedding

Kort and Chengcheng are easily one of the most fun and hilarious couples I’ve ever photographed. Their gorgeous wedding took place in downtown Chicago at the magnificent Prairie Production, which on the weekdays serves as a commercial photography studio and on the weekends, a wedding venue. Perfect!

Antony and Amber | Wedding

A month ago today I was lucky enough to be able to photograph my friends Antony and Amber’s wedding in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. I made my way down to Missouri a couple days early and was able to spend some time with Antony, Amber, their families and friends. It was fun to able to see everyone before the wedding, setting it all up. The ceremony was at Unity Village, a gorgeous 1,400 acres of countryside, fountains, and Mediterranean-style buildings. After the ceremony we all headed over to the bride’s folk’s home, for the party! The always fantastic Kevin Shee helped me photograph it all, and has a number of photographs displayed below.
